A devoted mother and self-taught cake artist, Kay Gajra is the creative force behind Kaykes, an award-winning Bolton-based studio that specialises in beautiful custom designs. Kay has spent the past seven years honing her skills in cake-sculpting as well as airbrushing and hand-colouring, earning a strong reputation for her inventive flair and impeccably detailed creations.

Ever since Kaykes was founded, it has been home to a deep passion for creating elaborate, refined cakes that reflect a genuine love of art and realism. Kay’s talents are hard to miss, from the remarkable furry textures of her animal recreations to her imaginative colour choices.

Kaykes has had the honour of being featured in some of the industry’s top magazines, including Cake Masters, Cake International, Cake and Craft, and Wedding Cakes, not to mention a spread in Australia’s Cake Magazine featuring a deep dive into Kay’s work.

Kay’s many achievements include winning gold at Cake International as a solo artist and as part of a group. In August 2018, she was named Artist of the Month by Global Sugar Artists Network, later appearing on their year-end Editor’s Choice List for Most Creative Edible Artworks. Kay was featured as one of Cake Masters Magazine’s Top 10 Cake Artists of 2018 and was also one of their Rising Star finalists.

Over the past few years, Kaykes’ media presence has skyrocketed, with Kay having made outstanding personalized cakes for celebrities such as TV chef James Martin as well as Sir Ian McKellen for his 80th birthday bash. Kay has also taken part in a handful of collaborations that have been featured at Cake International as well as in various magazines and web-based projects. Her work has also appeared on numerous television programs, including Blue Peter and The Graham Norton Show.

Sharing her passion for creating incredibly detailed and realistic cakes, Kay currently teaches sculpting and colouring classes in her UK studio, also offering workshops and demos worldwide.

We asked Kay why she wanted to be a Roxy & Rich ambassador:

“I was honoured to be asked to be an ambassador for Roxy and Rich, as I strongly believe it is the best product in the industry. With my pieces, I layer colours in an effort to get the most realistic details possible, something that Roxy products do every time without question. I know that when I use one of their products, it’ll do exactly what it says, from colouring a detailed art piece to an amazing drop cake. Roxy and Rich is an amazing family to be part of, and whenever I’m asked about colours or products, the first name out of my lips is always Roxy.”

Roxy & Rich is truly thrilled to have Kay Gajra as a cherished member of our family, and we look forward to growing our relationship for years to come.
